Happy Mother's Day
Yay mom.
Today (Saturday) was a really fun day. My family came down to visit so I had to roll my ass out of bed at 10, which was tough as I couldn't sleep until late last night. They got here and we went to lunch at Gus' Grocery. For those of you who have never been there, don't let the name fool you. It is an awesome sandwich place.
Afterwards, we drove over to the house I'm going to be living in next year. Kevin Roberts wasn't able to leave me a key so we could let ourselves in, so we went and knocked on the door. When nobody answered, we tried the doorknob. It was unlocked. Unsure whether this was intentional or not, my dad and my brother stayed out front to keep watch for the people who live with there now. Nobody seemed to be home so I took my mom on a quick tour of the house. She seemed to think it was really nice and that this would be a great place for me.
For dinner we went to a place on Monterey Street called Pepe Delgado's. The food there was awesome. For like 8 dollars, you got a huge plate full of food. After dinner we went back to the hotel my family was staying at and went in the spa. Unfortunately, it wasn't that hot and I got out after a little bit.
Bryan sounded thrilled when I mentioned that Chris has three trail bikes that he might bring down over the summer to fix up. He wants to come live with me now, bringing my current number of long-term summer guests to two.
I really wish Jen would write a LiveJournal entry about the wood-fiber lady, as only she can tell the story because only she has experienced firsthand, the hilarity, the frustration, and the mystery that is the wood-fiber lady.
UPDATE: Jen wrote in her journal about the wood-fiber lady!
Jen was noticing that Mother's Day always seems to be a big deal but Father's Day is just sorta like call your dad and be like "hey dad, happy father's day. yeah." My first reaction that since mothers are women, it is a bigger deal to them that you go out of your way to thank them for putting up with you all those years. Fathers, being men, don't really need more than a "thanks, good job" and maybe a new tie.
However after some thought I realized why mother's day is such a big deal. Childbirth. Possibly the most painful thing a person could be asked to do, and your mom did it for you. Guys should probably give their mothers even more attention on this holiday because they will never be able to understand the kind of pain their moms went through to bring them into this world. That plus them putting up with you all those years is worth at least a flower and a card. Go mom. Yeah.
