Taking care of business

"Get to the 'working overtime' part!" - Homer Simpson

Tons of work today. 11 hours of in fact. I came in at 8am for my second day of work (I know, I didn't post about yesterday, but I was tired!) and set to work on a Dell that wasn't working. After a bit of trials with it, we found that the disk had bad clusters at pagefile.sys, which windows uses for virtual memory. No wonder it seemed like a memory error but memory tests didn't find anything...

At 9 my boss, Peter, took me to one of our clients, Courtside Cellars to install a few new computers. It turns out these computers were to run the cash registers for the tasting room/gift shop that they just finished building today. I spent a lot of time getting all the cables nice and organized, but I had a good time being in a different environment than I'm used to working with computer in. I also spent some time setting up a guestbook kiosk computer using the Group Policy Editor. I learned how to remove any options from the start menu I want, including removing everything useful and locking myself out of the system (which I did a couple times). Anyway, the head guy there seemed pretty impressed with my work and was really cool- I hadn't gotten a chance for a lunch break so he ordered pizzas. Any guy that orders pizzas is ok by me.

Current Music: Eagles - "Take it to the Limit".... why this is in my head I don't know, maybe from listening to the nasea-inducing "lite rock less talk" all day :p
Link of the Day: http://www.hyenastormcub.com/pictures/misc/torture2.html - I know what you're thinking but this is way less gross and way more funny than you're thinking. They are drawings. I found the page while searching for "slave garb" on Google images after seeing Vaughn's Leia picture earlier. I particularly like the 3D rendering of A box to confine a victim for any of various purposes (or anything you can put in a box I guess, that thing is still FIERCE). I included THE BOX below to show you a random sample of this guy's awesomeness.
